Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Prepares to Open Its Doors to International Events and Visitors Again

December 19, 2022

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) will soon be welcoming back international visitors, trade shows and events to its massive exhibition halls.

On Dec. 13, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), the private operating and management company that oversees the facility’s day-to-day operations, announced that the Hong Kong SAR Government had removed its remaining anti-COVID-19 restrictions for inbound visitors, which included three days of medical surveillance and restrictions.

Starting Dec. 14, all international arrivals who test negative for the virus will be allowed to attend events, visit locations and patronize restaurants freely, according to HML officials.

“This is certainly a big and important step for the event industry to rebound, that we have been waiting for,” said Monica Lee-Müller, HML managing director. “With the strong demand for physical events, the prime location of the HKCEC in Hong Kong’s central business district, HML’s experience and expertise in serving world-class events and our continuous investment in infrastructure and facility upgrade, I am confident that the HKCEC will continue to win the votes of confidence of event organizers, exhibitors and buyers, and rise above the challenges of COVID-19.”

Several major trade shows will be returning to the HKCEC in 2023, including:

  • Hong Kong International Fur & Fashion Fair, Feb. 22-25;
  • Jewellery & GEM ASIA Hong Kong (JGA) will be held on June 22-25;
  • Jewellery & GEM WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) will be held on Sept. 20-24;
  • Cosmoprof Asia, Nov. 15-17.

Opened in 1988, the HKCEC is one of two major convention and exhibition centers in Hong Kong. An iconic Hong Kong landmark, the facility offers almost a million square feet of meeting and exhibit space and is located on the Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong’s central business district.

Owned by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the massive facility has been consistently awarded the title of “Best Convention and Exhibition Centre in Asia” and the destination “Trade Fair Capital of Asia” by international event visitors.
