Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association Supports Denver-based Urban Peak Charity at Annual Meeting

June 21, 2015

For the sixth year in a row, Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association partnered with a local charity at the site of their Annual Meeting, which was held June 20-23 in Denver.

Urban Peak helps youth experiencing homelessness and youth at risk for becoming homeless overcome real life challenges by providing essential services and a supportive community.

Their goal is to empower them to become self-sufficient adults.

HCEA Annual Meeting attendees had the opportunity to help Urban Peak in a number of ways, including a community service project, “Chip for Charity” golf outing and “Dots for Dollars” campaign in the exhibit hall.

Community service project participants deep cleaned the education center, painted the lobby, outreach office and restrooms and built a shade structure on the second floor patio.

“It is a wonderful addition to our meeting,” said Diane Benson, president of HCEA, “We truly enjoy the opportunity to help a local charity and share time with other meeting attendees outside of educational sessions and networking events.”

The “Chip for Charity” golf tournament, organized by GWF Associates, also benefited Urban Peak. Golfers took to the links at Arrowhead Golf Club on Saturday June 20. Proceeds from Mulligan sales and hole sponsorships went to Urban Peak.

The golf outing also included a First Timers Golf Clinic, for those new to the game of golf. The clinic included lessons on all the basics of the game with a dedicated pro, putting competition and time to try what they learn on the real course.

“The tournament is a great way for attendees to network and enjoy a round of golf at a great course, all while raising money for charity,” said Sean Feehan, tournament organizer.

“Dots for Dollars” encouraged exhibitors and attendees to show their support for Urban Peak. Exhibitors collected dots from attendees who visited their booth.

Each dot they received represented a $10 donation that exhibitor will give to Urban Peak. At HCEA’s 2014 Annual Meeting, $7,000 was raised for the Garden Valley Neighborhood House from Dots for Dollars.
