Record Size Foodpro 2011 Attracts 328 Exhibitors

The triennial Foodpro 2011, which ran July 10-13 in Sydney, has recorded its largest ever numbers in terms of exhibitors, visitors and space utilized. Reportedly the largest trade show for the food and beverage processing and manufacturing industries in the Asia-Pacific region, the show featured 328 exhibitors – an 18-percent increase from the previous edition in 2008. Foodpro is managed by Diversified Exhibitions Australia and was collocated with the 44th annual Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) Conference for the first time this year.

The increase in exhibitor numbers saw the show expand from four to five halls, which covered a total of 22,000 sq. m. of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. A record 8,800 visitors attended over the four-day trade show, up 13 percent from 2008. Furthermore, Diversified Exhibitions has plans to launch a smaller, regional food processing and manufacturing industry trade show in Queensland based on the success of Foodpro. The new show is expected to open in 2013.

Exhibition manager of Foodpro, Peter Petherick, said “Foodpro attendees were struck by the imposing size of this year’s exhibition. Many of our visitors made comment about the scale and breadth of Foodpro, recognizing that this event is a most comprehensive display of the industry’s products and services. Product demonstrations also were a highlight.”

The next edition of Foodpro is scheduled to run from July 13-16, 2014.
